Voice of the Town is a contemporary choir which can be found in Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle, where we perform our own versions of songs from a broad range of popular styles, often with a twist, style and a whole lot of soul.
We have been delighted to sing as part of the critically acclaimed play The Events at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and have given performances at a number of top class venues such as the iconic Sage Gateshead, the Cottier Theatre and Tron Theatre in Glasgow and the Traverse in Edinburgh. Often asked to sing at a variety of events, we have performed at feature shows, weddings and for charities such as Teenage Cancer Trust, NSPCC, Maggie’s Centre, Diabetes UK and Heart Research UK to name a few.
November 2013 saw us in the recording studio to lend our voices to the charity single Here We Stand, featuring Britain’s Got Talent 2011 winner Jai McDowall, which is raising funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust. It’s a beautiful track and you can download it via iTunes and Amazon. Furthermore, we’ve also had brilliant fun as a flash mob helping to reenact a scene from a movie for a marriage proposal and have had the pleasure of being involved in number of festivals, including The Late Shows and Glasgow Loves Christmas. Go check our What We Do page to see us in action and stop by our Blog to find out what we’ve been up to.
Interested in joining? We are open to men and women over the age of 18 who long for a chance to sing, and who enjoy anything from jazz to gospel to rock and pop (and everything in between). Unlike other choirs, there are no entry auditions and no pressure to understand sheet music or sing solo. We simply want to sing and perform great tunes to people as part of a fun, friendly and lively singing group.
