Tonight is the first night in our fantastic new rehearsal space for Glasgow's Voice of the Town and we can't wait to get started! Located just off Duke Street, The Vintage at Drygate is our new home - and what a venue! Rehearsal starts at 7pm on the nose, but why not wander down for a cheeky drink and some tasty grub?! Mmm... sounds like a plan!
And following our audition this afternoon, we're delighted and very excited to announce that our Newcastle group will be performing in the professional UK tour performance of Godspell at the Sunderland Empire on May 3rd. Huge well done to all who took part and thanks to the production team of Godspell In Concert for their fantastic feedback and opportunity. Let's Rock!
VOTT Edinburgh. Thanks to everyone who made it to choir tonight in spite of the awful traffic! Next week we shall be tackling some great new songs including some old repertoire. Keep an eye on your email folks for some information about our next rehearsal and what you should prepare and remember, your MD is always looking for song suggestions so fire ahead with any songs you love to listen to unless it's anything by Cliff Richard. (Sorry Cliff). See you soon. In the meantime - Here's some inspiration. Take 6 with the Oakland Aeolians....a perfect sonic example of a small jazz vocal ensemble performing together with a larger 'classical' choir. Spine tinglingly good....Crank the speakers up and get your lobes round this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQ2SvaEsB2c
IMPORTANT INFORMATION. Some exciting news for our Glasgow members. Our rehearsals shall now be taking place at the new DRYGATE bar on Duke Street near the City Centre from THIS COMING MONDAY, March 2nd 7pm - 9.30pm. It's a brilliant place. Lots of light and space inside to make noise and have fun. Good food and speciality beers. Parking on site. 15 minute walk from High Street train station and regular buses from both Duke Street and Alexandra Parade. Have a wee look. http://drygate.com/#
Well it's Tuesday, so that can mean only one thing... We've got the next instalment of our Singing Tutorials! And in this week's segment, Steve talks about taking the support OFF your voice. It's great for if you're classically trained or have been with classical groups and want/need to turn down the weightiness of your tone to make it sound more contemporary. It's also great if you just generally have a booming/heavy voice! Check it out...
Hello there Glasgow. Maddy here. Moving forward with ideas for our choir night out. I'd like some suggestions on where to go and also a few dates on when everyone is free. There is a Facebook group up and running if someone would like to take the reigns. It'd be great to see everyone and to get to know our new members :)
